A lovely example of Mitchell's expressive works showing a building alongside a river or canal.
Part of a large collection of works by Malcolm D. Mitchell that includes bright, impressionistic watercolours and architectural drawings.
Malcolm Mitchell's work spans the last decades of the twentieth-century. Although his biography has not been recorded, we do know that he was a member of the Society of Amateur Artists (Member Number 4555). He lived at an address in Kingsbridge, a small market town in Devon nestled between Plymouth and the English Riviera. He predominantly painted landscapes in the South West of England and beyond but also travelled on the Continent where he captured scenes in Venice, Lake Maggiore and Southern France.
Mitchell's attractive watercolours reflect an artist with a talent for capturing sunny, colourful landscapes in an impressionistic manner.
