An excellent and detailed watercolour painting showing a schoolboy writing lines on a slate. Monogrammed in lower left.
The artist has also cleverly disguised his signature in various parts of the picture, including on the envelope in the lower left corner and scratched into the wall behind.
This is a very fine example of naturalistic watercolour painting. The artist has paid great attention to detail, including copying the map of Southern England in the background.
The colours are subtle and well-composed and the boy's face is rendered with a gentle touch, the mark of a very skilled artist.
An interesting touch is the writing and graffiti scratched into the painting to the right to represent actual graffiti on the classroom wall.
In a gold mount: 45 x 39cm.
