About us

We Are The British Art Co.!

The British Art Co. started as a casual conversation among friends at the Holbourne Gallery café in Bath, UK. We came together through our love of the arts as well as our various skills.

All of us were keen to bring our specialist skills together to create a business that would allow more people around the world to bring original art into their homes. We are all art lovers ourselves and understand the pleasure that a picture of a favourite holiday destination or a wacky, abstract conversation piece can bring to a blank wall – and it doesn’t have to be expensive either!

Our goal is to sell original affordable art to suit every artistic taste and budget all over the world!

Dr. Charlotte Drew

Dr. Charlotte DrewWith a PhD in History of Art from the University of York in 2014, I am a specialist in nineteenth-century British art history. I have been working in the affordable art business for the last two years, learning the ins and outs of art buying, restoration, cataloguing and valuation.

I have a passion for writing about art and have published various articles in leading journals, including the Sculpture Journal. I have also delivered papers at a number of international conferences, given lectures around the country and curated my own exhibition in Leeds. You can find out more about my research at

I love handling the artworks in our collection on a daily basis and researching the artists we represent. I grew up surrounded by creative people and began my studies as an artist before turning to art history. I therefore believe that art should be available to everybody and I make sure to cater for all budgets when putting together our catalogue.

Tony Mckenty

Tony MckentyMy love of art and its histories led me to embark on a degree in the History of Art with the Open University. I completed this in 2014 and am now in my second year of a Masters degree in the same subject.

I have successfully sold art in Bristol, as well as throughout Somerset and Wiltshire and now wish to expand this through The British Art Co.

I look after customer sales and satisfaction home and abroad and, alongside Charlotte, will be sourcing art from across the UK for our new and existing customers.

Yasmin Namdjou

Having worked for a variety of dealerships and galleries and with a Masters in History of Art from the University of Bristol, my passion for art has been a life-long career venture.

I have worked in the arts industry in many different roles, from arts handling and logistics, to organising exhibitions and art fairs around the world. In terms of The British Art Co., I look after our social media accounts and write for our blog.

Paul Franklin

Paul FranklinQualifying with a BA in Modern Languages & Information Systems, as an undergraduate, I spent a year studying in the Spanish city of Málaga (the birthplace of Picasso).

As a consequence of my love for Spain, I have a particular interest in Spanish art in the context of Spain’s history between the fifteenth and twentieth centuries.

Although I consider myself a linguist, my career has been largely IT-based, especially with the Internet and its associated technologies. I have an unquenchable enthusiasm for websites, having built my first one back in 1997… and my enthusiasm for the Web has never waned!

I look after the technology side of the website and try to make sure it runs as smoothly as possible.

Alan Meade

Alan MeadeSport has factored heavily in my life, particularly playing rugby, which has enabled me to travel throughout England and Europe. It was on these very visits and through my love of photography that I embellished my love of art and the way it can capture the moment forever.

Over the years my interests have widened as I have discovered new fields, art forms and cultures.

With my background in operations I have a real passion to deliver logistics for The British Art Co.
